Funding to Support the Armed Forces

The next application deadline for the Ministry of Defence's a new National Covenant Fund - Small Grants Programme is the 17th December 2015. The aim of the National Covenant Fund is to support the armed forces community. A total of £10 million is being made available per year, and the Small Grants Programme provides grant of up to £20,000 for projects that support:

  • Community integration of the armed force personnel
  • The coordination and delivery of support services
  • Support to former service personnel in the criminal justice system.

Organisations that can apply for funding include Registered Charities and Community Interest Companies as well as armed forces units with an UIN (small grants programme only). For non armed forces groups, the funder will be looking for evidence of "real engagement and partnership working" with either an armed forces charity or an armed forces unit.

There is also a Large Grants Programme which provides funding of up to £500.000, this is however currently closed to applications.
