Alzheimer’s Society Guide - five top tips for people volunteering their time in the coronavirus response

The Alzheimer’s Society have produced a useful guide for people volunteering in their local coronavirus response.  Whether for the NHS, through a community group or by supporting a friend or neighbour, the guide is for people who may be helping somebody living with dementia. 

In producing the guide, they worked with people affected by dementia to understand the unique challenges they face in this pandemic. Five top tips are included that volunteers can do to support them during this time. 

While you won’t always know that somebody has dementia, and every person’s dementia is unique, you will obtain a basic understanding of the condition and its impact.  

As a volunteer, you’re already doing the most important things for people affected by dementia by showing them kindness, patience and empathy.
