The Pont Valley Network Family Fun Day

The annual Pont Valley Network FREE Family Fun Day is taking place as usual at Dipton Community Centre on Saturday 29th June from 10am to 4pm.

As well as heralding the start of the third Derwent Valley Trail Runners’ Junior Red Kite Run in the morning, there are various activities for all the family taking place throughout the day, and a number of exhibits featuring the things that are happening around the area, on the general theme of ecology and the environment. Amongst the attractions will be:

  • A giant inflatable for big kids (of all ages!), and a smaller bouncy castle for the little ones.

  • Animal exhibits, including (weather permitting) an early afternoon flying display of birds of prey that you’ll even be able to handle!

  • Displays from local partnership groups, as well as other exhibitors such as Guide Dogs for the Blind, and a great display of photos of the area.

  • Regular visitors from the Tanfield School Band providing a lunchtime show.

  • Handicrafts, including displays of woodland skills.

  • The world-famous “Every ticket a winner” Pont Valley Network Tombola, and a raffle.

  • Activity tables for kids and refreshments, which will be available all day.

Parking will be restricted outside the Community Centre itself to those requiring disabled access, but there’s ample free parking in the main car park in the centre of the village.

Thanks to the sponsors, the Heritage Lottery-funded Land of Oak & Iron, and the Dipton Community Partnership, ENTRY IS FREE so call in at any time — the group would love to see you there!
