New DigiWorks Courses

DurhamWorks partner Groundwork is offering 16-24 year olds, living in County Durham, who are not in education, employment or training, the opportunity to develop their skills in technology and social media to improve young people’s chances of gaining employment or an apprenticeship.

The course will run over 6 sessions and will cover:

  • What an employer is looking for; working with a recruiter to find employment or apprenticeship opportunities.

  • Online and Social Media Basics; significance of online appearance and using Social Media for job search.

  • Digital CV, Personal Statements and Email; develop a Digital CV/Personal Statement to be used in future digital job search.

  • Browsers, Navigation and Search Options; using ICT to find information on the Internet and how to be efficient in job search.

  • Skills for Employment; employability skills and building confidence in promoting self to employers.

  • Exploring Career Choices; working with tutor and recruiter to match skills, attributes and experience with job and apprenticeship opportunities.

Courses start at 10am, but the start and finish time can be adjusted if necessary to accommodate school times.

At the end of the course, learners will receive an accredited qualification: Online Basics ITQ.

Learners can then progress on to higher level IT qualifications, apprenticeships and employment opportunities.

22 February to 5 April 2018 and 27 February to 14 March 2018.

2 to 19 March 2018 and 23 March to 16 April 2018.

  • Groundwork NE & Cumbria, William Robson House, Claypath, Durham, DH1 1SA 19 March to 30 April 2018 and 20 March to 10 April 2018.
