Members of a Wellbeing for Life Eat Wise to Drop a Size group are celebrating feeling healthier and happier after attending the ‘life changing’ group for over a year now.
Eat Wise Drop a Size runs every Friday 10am-12noon and is a free, friendly class that supports people to make healthier food choices, get more active, lose weight and improve lifestyle.
They are inviting anyone who may be interested in joining to attend a one year celebration event on Friday 22nd September, 10am-12noon at St. Patricks Church Hall in Consett.
“It makes a tremendous difference to us” said Flo Robson, 74 who has lost over 9kgs and reduced her blood pressure and cholesterol since attending the group. “I used to be stuck at home on my own, now I’ve made so many friends I’ve had to buy a diary to remember everything! It has changed my life, I feel healthier, happier and look forward to it every week.”
Wellbeing for Life Health Trainer Wendy Marlowe runs the sessions and says “Healthy eating is not just about managing your weight; it is also about improving your general wellbeing.
Over 40 people have accessed this group in the last year and all have successfully dropped at least one size in clothes. Many have found that their health has benefitted from losing the weight, such as lowering their blood pressure, reducing their medications and finding it easier to get around more.
In addition, many of the group have found that there social life has also had a boost from the friendships formed. They organise days out together, support each other with difficulties they are experiencing and some attend a gentle exercise class together; which has helped with their weight loss.”
