County Durham foodbank - Vacancy

Durham Christian Partnership (DCP) is delighted to announce that Dee their current Food Supply Manager will be moving in to the role of Volunteer Coordinator.  This, therefore, leaves a vacancy as advertised below.

Vacancy - Foodbank Food Supply Manager

This is an exciting and challenging opportunity to be involved in managing and developing the largest foodbank in the North of England. County Durham foodbank has grown rapidly as a crisis intervention project operating across County Durham. Running for just over five years it now delivers food to approximately 1,250 people each month (12,000 meals), collecting and distributing 10 tonnes of food each month. It involves over 400 volunteers, 28 distribution points, over 100 churches and over 60 schools. The foodbank enjoys widespread community support, recognition from the local authority, statutory agencies and front line support agencies.

DCP are seeking a part time manager to join their team to coordinate food collections, sorting, storage and general logistics so ensuring a timely supply of food to their distribution centres. This role is currently based at their foodstore in Chester Le Street, therefore communication with the rest of the team based at their offices in Durham is mainly by telephone and email.

County Durham foodbank uses the Trussell Trust operating model and is part of the national foodbank Network. The project is Christian based, and they welcome applications from people who subscribe to Christian values and principles: they do not discriminate on religious grounds.

You will work closely with the trustees, staff and volunteers of Durham Christian Partnership the parent charity, who run multiple projects improving care and support for people in County Durham. Cross-over opportunities exist between the projects which include Durham Money Advice Centre, StreetLights, a Grandparent Support group, the Cathedral Listening Service, Effective Listening courses and other training and support events. DCP also operates a charity shop with the intention of opening more as community support centres including food distribution and other services.
