Groundwork North East & Cumbria are delivering a variety of Community Learning courses FREE to adults and children on behalf of Durham County Council.

Your community group could take advantage of the FREE Community Learning courses available, delivered by qualified staff with all materials provided.

Get Stuck In

One Full Day (up to 6 hours)

The courses are designed to encourage people to get involved in their local community spaces whilst enjoying learning new skills that can be used to continue volunteering or to improve skills for employment.

Based on environmental conservation skills the course includes:-

Each course will be specifically tailored to the site being used and therefore specific to the location and the group of learners. Tailoring will allow learners to develop skills particularly relevant to moving into employment, further learning or continuing volunteering in the local area and exploring personal interests.

In addition to individual learning aims the course will aim to develop volunteer skills, community relationships and pride which will sustain the local community. Skills learned will be transferrable and learners will be encouraged to further them through volunteering or by joining longer courses like Living Spaces. 

There is a small budget for each course to purchase materials, for example:
