Let the Fun Begin!

Sedgefield’s 46th Mediaeval Fayre

Saturday 21st May 2016 from 10 - 4pm

ESCAFELD'S Combating Knights will top the programme while ACLE Living History will capture the interest of visitors to this year’s Sedgefield Mediaeval Fayre. All things mediaeval to nearer modern day will provide a packed programme for a great family day out.

The fayre opens at 10am with a children’s parade beginning its colourful journey to the village greens led by the Flower Queen and her attendants. Walworth Falconry displays, Durham Rams and Black Sheep Morris add to events on the village green including mediaeval combat demonstrations by ESCAFELD Mediaeval Society, children's tug-of-war, fancy dress competition, face painting, Punch & Judy as well as other entertainment will take place on the village greens and in Ceddesfeld Hall Park.

The park will host living history groups. See how the knights lived and worked; make candles, see Birds of Prey, Punch & Judy & children's entertainment with Pat's Puppets, face painting and small children’s rides which all add to what promises to be a bumper Fayre.

Ceddesfeld Hall provides excellent morning coffees and scrumptious lunches while CAMRA's past regional winning bar offers excellent value for money with its guest ales and other refreshments.

The church tower will be open for the day, not one for the feint hearted – though the views are spectacular. Choral entertainment from the Lyrics Singers, as well as tunes from the Northumbrian Pipers will waft through the rafters.

Various stalls bedeck the village green, selling an abundance of crafts and assorted wares as well as the traditional Grand Raffle being drawn at 3.00 pm, where £200 cash and other exceptional prizes can be won. Traditional fair ground rides and games stalls complete the entertainment.

Displays and business information detailing sponsors and supporters of the Fayre will be in Ceddesfeld Hall and at the Information Stall on the day. The fayre committee are especially grateful to our loyal sponsors, including this year, Hays Travel, Drive for Life, Dun Cow Inn, Durham County Council, Eden Costumes, Espresso Web, George Bolam Foods, Identitag Engraving, Sedgefield Dental Practice, Sedgefield Fisheries, Sedgefield Physiotherapy Practice, Sedgefield Town Council, Skerne Medical Group, WCL Construction, Cinnamon Club sponsors and all who have helped in any way with the fayre, without which it would not be so successful.
