Durham County Council is working with Centrifuge Consulting to develop a Local Development Strategy for North Durham which includes the village of Dipton.

This Strategy will outline how they would seek to allocate at least £2m of European Social Funds and European Regional Development Funds through Community Led Local Development to help local people move towards and into employment and support businesses in the area to grow and create jobs. These funds are not guaranteed. However, with your help they can make the case for accessing this funding.

They are also developing a Local Action Group of people from across the community, private and public sectors to oversee the Strategy and the allocation of any funding secured.

Representatives from Centrifuge will be hosting a drop in session for local residents and businesses on Tuesday 10th May between 6pm-7pm in Dipton Community Centre and would like to encourage as many local people to attend as possible so they can:

  • Inform residents and businesses about Community Led Local Development
  • Update about the Local Action Group and inform residents about how to get involved
  • Talk about local project ideas etc.
  • Gain local intelligence to inform the local strategy

A more formal presentation will then be given at the Dipton Community Partnership meeting starting at 7pm in the Community Centre.

This project has the potential to draw in a substantial amount of money for local projects in Dipton so they would very much welcome the views of local residents at either the drop in session or the meeting afterwards.
